There was a convergence of Torontonians at the West End Cultural Centre in Winnipeg on Oct. 14th. Andy Stochansky and Danny Michel were touring out West, and the Tuge Tour 2000 was drawing to a close. We met at soundcheck at the WECC, shared a meal and tour stories, mutually appreciated one another's artistic expressions, and then got pissed!

Well, maybe not pissed. Andy et al had to get up early the next morning and drive to godknowswhere, and we had to make it to Wawa, Ontario. There's that name again. Wawa. Home of the Canada goose. Apparently the black hole for hitch-hikers who, once they wave adieu to their ride in front of the oversized goose statue (it looks like a Chernoble version of a Michael Snow masterpiece), never see the inside of a car again. Some, they say, end up getting married and raising families there. Perhaps that's why there's a restaurant or two and even a few motels in the area.

But I digress...

Guys behave very well in the presence of a woman.

Some guys. Don't get me started on that "all men..." business again. I did learn a few more dirty jokes, but overall it was a very civilized night. Much to my chagrin.

I suppose there was some melancholy in the air knowing Michael Keith wouldn't be performing guitar duties with us anymore. The decision was a mutual one. But nonetheless, the gig at the WECC was tense, and we were road-weary to boot. Perhaps that accounts for Michael's closed eyes in this photo. Or, perhaps there's some correlation between Michael's closed eyes and Paul's bare feet on Abbey Road!!!
